Getting started with WebEx

Step 1: Installing Meeting Manager

Before using WebEx for the first time, you will need to install and set up the Meeting Manager. . You will be prompted to do this the first time you join a WebEx meeting as a host or participant.

Should you wish to do this before your meeting, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit your WebEx homepage (provided in your welcome email).
  2. Click on the Log In button in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Enter your User name and password (provided in your welcome email) and click Log In.
  4. On the tabs at the top of the screen, choose Meeting Center.
  5. On the left-hand menu, expand Set Up followed by Meeting Manager.
  6. Click on the Set Up button to proceed.
  7. If a security dialog box appears, do one of the following:
    • If you are installing Training Manager on Microsoft Internet Explorer, click Yes.
    • If you are installing Training Manager on Netscape Navigator, click Grant.
  8. You have successfully set up Meeting Manager on this computer.
  9. Click OK.

NB. This may take 3-6 minutes to do, depending on the speed of your system.

Step 2: Schedule, start, and join your WebEx conference via the Web.

There are four different options available for you to select how to schedule, start, and join your WebEx web conference.

Option 1: Using the WebEx Meeting Manager Console

Schedule a WebEx session directly through the WebEx Meeting Manager. This easy-to-use application will allow you to schedule and run all of your WebEx meetings. You can either schedule in advance or host instant meeting using meeting manager.

Option 2: Using the Outlook Plug-in

Schedule a WebEx session in the same way that you schedule and invite attendees to other meetings and define participants as attendees or presenters. Set meeting options. Schedule a conference call.

Option 3: Using the Lotus Notes Plug-in

Schedule and enter meetings directly from Lotus Notes and the WebEx service. Specify all meeting options and set up default preferences from Lotus Notes.

Option 4: Using One Click

Start instant ad hoc meetings at any time without having to schedule them in advance.
